how to study...

hey guess i'm really having a hard time this year....I don't really know how to go by studying biochem and physiology.....in physio, our prof. told us that we shouldn't really memorize anything but understand the stuff....but the truth is that there is just so much to MEMORIZE...and biochem is just horrible...they don't really teach much and the tests are crazy and hard....
